The Uk’s Leading Retailer Of Prestige & Specialist Cars

When a business is operating at the upper end of the market, it needs to reflect that philosophy through the products it sells, the premise from which it operates and the way it functions as a Company.

Security Design Centre (SDC) believes such a philosophy should be extended to include the level of security protection as well as the company providing the system design and installation.

Rydale at Oldbury is a BMW dealership with a new, exciting and futuristic premises completed in 2006.

Stock holding, display and storage of BMW vehicles on site was always intended to be high and as a result SDC was asked to design an effective security system that would identify a potential crime, act as a deterrent and prevent damage or theft.

Using the very latest technology SDC designed a remote CCTV transmission and monitoring solution, integrating 360Vision colour/mono dome cameras, JVC 1/3” fixed colour cameras with varifocal lens, a 360Vision Avalon 600Gb recorder (including CD burner) and transmitter plus a large number of video motion and PIR detectors and three 15” colour monitors.

The CCTV system was also integrated with a Galaxy alarm system using RedCare GSM signalling to a remote monitoring centre for immediate response to any on site activations.

An additional feature of the system was to provide Net work Viewer Software that enables nominated individuals to view the site remotely via web pages.

The benefit of this type of system is that once the system is ‘set’ at the end of the working day, any unwanted person entering the site will trigger one of the detection zones, resulting in his/her camera image being transmitted to the remote control room where an operator will immediately view the incident and challenge the person to leave the site, via the on site speaker system.

Failure to respond to such requests will result in the control room operator contacting the response service (Police, Guarding Company or Keyholder) to attend site.

This system provides a number of benefits that includes visual verification of an unwanted visitor to a site and the recording of that person’s behaviour before and after the incident that can be used for evidential purposes.

‘Significantly this technology is a proven deterrent to potential criminal behaviour – a well designed and monitored system will be supported by the Police and Insurance industry in fact CCTV system installations to BS8418 are now being issued with Unique Reference Numbers(URN) by the police in recognition of their effectiveness’ says Richard Bissett, SDC’s Technical Director

Footnote:

Rydale Oldbury has recently been acquired by the Sytner Group, the UK’s leading retailer of prestige vehicles whose goal is ‘to be the best Company to do business with’.

What SDC can say is ‘the security system installed at Oldbury is the Best’!
